What is Pickleball?

Pickleball is a fast-growing paddle sport that combines elements of tennis, badminton, and table tennis. It is played with a paddle and a plastic ball with holes, similar to a Wiffle ball. The game can be played both indoors and outdoors, on a badminton-sized court with a net slightly lower than a tennis net.

Key aspects of pickleball

Court: The dimensions are 20 feet by 44 feet, similar to a badminton court, with a net that is 34 inches high in the middle.

Paddle: Players use a solid paddle, typically made of composite or wood materials, which is larger than a table tennis paddle but smaller than a tennis racquet.

Ball: The ball used is lightweight, made of plastic, with holes, making it slower than a tennis ball.

Scoring: Points are only scored by the serving side, and games are usually played to 11 or 15 points, with a team needing to win by 2 points.

Gameplay: It can be played in singles or doubles. Players hit the ball back and forth over the net, trying to avoid faults, such as hitting the ball out of bounds or into the net. The game also has a "kitchen" area near the net where volleying is not allowed to avoid too much dominance at the net.
