Recap and photos by Lenka Morgan
On Saturday, March 21, the town of Frýdlant nad Ostravicí hosted another fantastic stop of the JOOLA Pickleball Tour, held at the Panorama Sport tennis hall. The tournament brought together more than 75 players, including strong international participation from Poland and Austria.
A dedicated group of PPC members set off on Friday afternoon, making the four-hour journey to compete. The event featured 12 categories across age groups and DUPR ratings, played on seven hard courts, creating a full and dynamic day of competition.
The tournament kicked off with singles matches, followed by mixed doubles, junior categories, and 50+, before concluding with the doubles events in the evening. Throughout the day, players enjoyed a great atmosphere, with access to refreshments at the on-site bistro and plenty of opportunities to reconnect with friends from clubs across the region.
Adding to the excitement, a crew from TV Nova was present to cover the event. We’re hopeful that the exposure will help bring even more attention to pickleball—and to PPC!
On the court, PPC players delivered strong performances across categories, with several standout results. A special mention goes to our youngest member, Šimon Vališ who brought home a gold and bronze, an incredible achievement and to Miki Čižmár who also took home a gold and bronze!
Sunday offered a perfect balance to the competitive day, as players took time to explore the beautiful surrounding nature before heading to the outdoor pickleball courts in Dobrá near Frýdek-Místek, featuring six courts for some more social games before starting the journey back to Prague.
A big thank you to the Czech Pickleball Association and David Palkovský for the organization. We’re already looking forward to the next stop on the tour!
