On Saturday, 15 August, almost 50 eager players came together at the ForPadel Sport Park Zdiměřice to test their skills, compete, and have fun under the summer sun. The tournament was part of the JOOLA Pickleball Tour 1000, organised by the Czech Pickleball Association (CPA).
With games taking place on both the outdoor courts and the cooler indoor courts in the hall, there was plenty of pickleball action throughout the day.
The day started with Singles matches. The Men’s category was divided into higher and lower levels, while the Women’s category competed at the higher level. Although the sun was not yet at its hottest, we were already seeing some heated matches, with players covering the whole court and chasing down every ball.
Around noon, we swiftly moved on to Mixed Doubles. Interest was high, with plenty of teams competing in both the higher and lower levels. Both women and men were giving it their best, with dinking, driving, overheads and everything else you could wish for in a good pickleball match.
As the day progressed, the Men’s Doubles categories got underway, with high testosterone on display in both the higher and lower levels! It was impressive to see that everyone still had plenty of energy left to compete and, most importantly, enjoy themselves.
Meanwhile, the crowd gathered in the shade, enjoying cool drinks and watching the games.
The day was wrapped up with the 50+ Doubles category. Instead of having separate men’s and women’s teams competing against each other, we created mixed teams. This brought together players who might not otherwise have had the chance to play together, and it was a welcome change of format.
After almost 12 hours of pickleball, we could finally call it a day. The winning players and teams received their medals and prizes, while everyone else went home with a day full of games, fun, sunshine and plenty of cold drinks.
A big thank you to everyone who came, played, cheered, and helped make the day such a great one.
We look forward to seeing you at the next one!
