Last weekend, Prague Pickleball Club and Sky Sport City hosted the PLC Sports Travel Pickleball Tour for two days of open play, a round robin tournament, and a pizza dinner. Nineteen Canadian players and 12 PPC members participated in mixed doubles, women’s doubles, and men’s doubles on both indoor and outdoor courts. We enjoyed experiencing a new format with the 10-minute per game, with a maximum 11 point differential format. This resulted in some unexpected semi-final and final matchups!
While the Canadians swept up most of the gold and silver medals, PPC teams held their own, taking bronze in mixed doubles (Jan Šestak and Sue Šejda), bronze in women’s doubles (Lenka Morgan and Sue Šejda), and silver in men’s doubles (Damien Odess-Gillet and Filip Dezort).
Overall, the friendly atmosphere, good food and drink, and a bonus premium view of the women’s football (soccer) match made for a memorable time, not only for our Canadian visitors, who were on their way to play more pickleball in Vienna and Budapest, but also to our members who participated. Big thanks to all who attended!
